Every year, University of Civil Engineering periodically organizes postgraduate enrollments with 19 majors for PhD Training and 17 majors for Master Training.

Application Requirements

Citizens of Socialist Republic of Vietnam who have all the conditions below are entrants:

On diplomas

  • Candidates are college graduates of the specialized branch or of the branch that fits properly the exam registration.
  • For other cases at II.1.a, candidates must submit a notarized copy of his/her diploma and college transcript to the Scientific and Training Committee of the responsible departments. The Committee will review the documents, submit them to the Rector, and determine additional subjects.
  • Postgraduate Department and responsible departments conduct the study and evaluate of the results of additional subjects prior to entrance exam.
  • Candidates are healthy enough to study.
  • Candidates must submit full profile on time as prescribed.

The entrance exam subjects

  • Basic subjects: As presented in the list of examination subjects for each speciality
  • Fundamental subjects: As presented in the list of examination subjects for each speciality
  • Foreign language: English - the exam format is equivalent to A2 level of the European framework.

Training form and duration: credit training system within 1.5 years.

  • University of Civil Engineering, Tây Nguyên University, Cần Thơ University: 16 specialties
  • University of Civil Engineering in Central Vietnam: subjects from 1 to 8
  • Ha Tinh University, Northwestern University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (Ho Chi Minh City sends the staff of the University) and several other universities (if required and allowed by the Ministry of Education and Training).

The form, timing and location of training

Master's degree holders spend 3 consecutive years of full-time study or 4 consecutive years of part-time study. Persons with university diplomas spend 4 consecutive years of full-time study or 5 consecutive years of part-time study.

Application Requirements

Citizens of Socialist Republic of Vietnam who have all the conditions below are entrants:

On diplomas, candidates must satisfy at least one of the following conditions:

- Have a master's degree of the same major as the major they have registered, appropriate majors, or related majors;

- Have a master's degree in a different major and a university diploma of the same major as the major they have registered or appropriate majors. (As a candidate without a master's degree);

- Have a university diploma of the same major as the major they have registered with good results or better;

 

Entrants must have one of the following certificates or degrees in a foreign language:

- Certificate of foreign language proficiency equivalent to B1 level or grade 3/6 or more by Common European Framework Reference for languages, which is still valid until the date of the doctoral entrance exam, presented by an authorized international test center or by a domestic college which teaches foreign languages corresponding to university degree level;

- A university diploma or a master degree by a foreign university;

- A university diploma in a foreign language.

 

Requirements for published works

- A candidate with a master's degree must have at least one article published in a reputable scientific journal before filing for admission. The content of the article must be appropriate for the research orientation registered for admission. A candidate without a master's degree must have at least two articles which fulfil the same requirements.

- The candidate must have an essay about the research plan and recommend a supervisor;

- The candidate must submit two letters of recommendation by two scientists who have such scientific titles as professor, associate professor, or by a doctor of the same major as the major they have registered; or a letter of recommendation from a scientist with a scientific title or a doctor of the same major as the major they have registered and a recommendation letter from the head of the candidate’s company. These recommenders need to have at least 6 months’ working or doing professional activities with the candidate;

- The candidate must have sufficient language proficiency to refer to the documentation and participate in international operations so as to serve scientific research and implementation of the thesis;

 

Doctoral entrants needs:

- At least two years of professional work in the registered field (since graduating from college, counting from the date that the Principal signed the graduation documents to the registration date). Entrants with excellent diplomas are exempt from this;

- Being recommended for doctoral admission by the human resource management agency (if the person has a job), or by the university where the candidate graduated from. Those who are unemployed should have good personal resumé from local government and commit no violation against the law;

- A commitment to undertake financial obligations for the training process as prescribed by the school.
