Summarizing and Diploma Awarding Ceremony for students of the 10 th Batch of Joint Pre- University Training Program between National University of Civil Engineering (Vietnam) and Universities of Federal Republic of Germany

On the morning of 07 th July 2018 at National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE), Faculty of International Education (FIE) and International Center for Consultancy and Education Cooperation (ICCEC) organized the Summarizing and Diploma Awarding Ceremony for students of the 10 th Batch of Joint Pre-University Training Program between National University of Civil Engineering (Vietnam) and Universities of Federal Republic of Germany.

The ceremony is honored to welcome the presence of: Prof. Lutz Herfurth – Rector of Nordhausen Pre-University School and Mrs. Vera Herfurth – Lecturer of Nordhausen Pre- University School. On behalf of NUCE there is the presence of: Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hoa
– Rector of NUCE; Dr. Ta Quynh Hoa – Dean of FIE, Director of ICCEC; Assoc. Prof. Dang Thi Thanh Huyen – Vice-Dean of FIE, Vice-Director of ICCEC; Assoc. Prof. Pham Hung Cuong – Dean of Faculty of Architectural and Planning, former Director of ICCEC; Representatives of offices, lecturers and staffs of FIE and ICCEC, students of the 10 th Batch and their parents. During the ceremony, representative office in Hanoi of German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD) also awarded Notices of admission to students of DAAD office in Hanoi. This event marked a close collaboration between NUCE and DAAD to bring about more chances for Vietnamese students to study and research in Germany.

Giving his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hoa – Rector of NUCE summarized the 10 years of establishment and development of Joint Pre-University Training Program with Universities of Federal Republic of Germany. Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hoa acknowledged that along the path there had been efforts of generations of leaders, staffs, lecturers and students of NUCE and of partner universities. After 10 Batches, there have been 115 Vietnamese students come to Germany to study and research, among which there are many graduated students capable of securing good positions in both Vietnam and Germany. The Rector sent his congratulations to all students of the 10 th Batch, and also encouraged them to continue perform well in their future steps. Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Hoa expressed his sincere thanks to Prof. Lutz Herfurth – Rector of Nordhausen Pre-University School for his supports and valuable contributions since the first days of the program, which not only helped the program successful but also strengthened the bond between the two universities.

Subsequently, Dr. Ta Quynh Hoa – Dean of FIE, Director of ICCEC represented the faculty and the center to express the joy towards achievements of all students of the 10 th Batch. The Dean also sent her sincere thanks to Prof. Herfurth and all lecturers who have joined in training and supporting the students throughout their endeavors in Vietnam and in Germany.

Prof. Herfurth personally awarded Notices of admission of Nordhausen Pre-University School to 6 students of the 10 th Batch who had competed their 1-year course at NUCE.Coming to Germany, they will continue studying at Nordhausen Pre-University School for 1 year, then move on to Weimar Architecture and Civil Engineering University or Nordhausen University of Applied Science (3-year course). Prof. Lutz Herfurth is not simply a lecturer, he is also considered a second father to all students during their time of living and studying in Germany.

Representing students of the 10 th Batch, Mr. Pham Khoi Vu and Ms. Ho Bao Cat Anh – two students who achieved the best results in the entrance exam to Nordhausen Pre-University School delivered their speech in German to send their deep gratitude towards the Rector of Nordhausen Pre-University School, Board of Administrators of NUCE, leaders of FIE and ICCEC, lecturers and staffs of the program, as well as their parents who had been creating the most favorable conditions for them to study and pursue such results.

Finally, to represent parents of students of the 10 th Batch, Assoc. Prof. Pham Hung Cuong – Dean of Faculty of Architectural and Planning together with Dr. Vu Thi Hoa – former lecturer of NUCE, representative of parents of students of the 9 th Batch expressed their gratitude towards leaders of both universities, FIE and ICCEC, as well as lecturers who have contributed in building an effective program, which had been creating opportunities for Vietnamese students to study, research and work at prestigious German universities.

The Board of Administrators of NUCE, FIE and ICCEC are always hopeful towards a sustainable and developing cooperation between NUCE (Vietnam) and Weimar Architecture and Civil Engineering University, Nordhausen University of Applied Science as well as Nordhausen Pre-University School (Germany) to continue bringing chances for students to approach and exchange with advanced educational environment.
