Final round Best faces for the cover page of Vietnamese Students Magazine in 2017

On Saturday evening, December 23rd 2017, a night gala “Final round: Best faces for the cover page of Vietnamese Students Magazine” took place at the National University of Civil Engineering. This contest was co-organized by Vietnamese Students Magazine and several partners. 

Participants included Mr. Bui Dang Dung – Deputy Head of the Committee of Finance and Budget of the National Assembly and Former Chairman of Vietnam Union of Students, Mr. Pham Tat Thang – Deputy Head of the Committee of Culture and Education of Juveniles and Pioneers of the National Assembly, Mr. Nguyen Thien Tu, Deputy Head of the Department of Schools and Youths. From the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE): Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Anh – Vice Rector, from Vietnamese Students Magazine: Mr. Nguyen Huy Loc, Journalist and Editor in Chief, from the sponsors: representatives of MOFICO, PICO, Arena Multimedia Training Center, Langmaster English Language Center, Anvée Beauty Parlor. In addition, there were representatives of centers, faculties and departments of the NUCE, Boards of Directors of the NUCE and various universities and colleges, artists, media agencies, candidates and students as supporters. 

As Head of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Nguyen Huy Loc – Journalist and Editor in Chief of Vietnamese Students Magazine – announced the rules of the contest and the prizes. He emphasized that this was an attractive platform for the youths to find out talented and good-looking students from all universities, colleges and institutes in the north of the country. In addition, the program helped establish the movement “Doing Five Good Things” launched by the Central Committee of Vietnam Union of Students, promote a new civilization of behavior and styles at universities/colleges and institutes, and give students a good opportunity to communicate with one another.

On behalf of the host institution, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Anh – Vice Rector of the NUCE – conveyed his warm greetings to all the candidates, delegates and students taking part in this program. He expressed his pride when the NUCE has been selected as a host institution of the program, and emphasized the significance of the contest: it was not only an attractive cultural playground to students, but also a good opportunity for them to learn from one another and exchange with one another when they appear in front of the public audience. That was an essential skill for them in the future.

At the night gala, all the candidates had to go through two contests: self-selected costumes and talent. The Jury included Mr. Do Thanh Hai – Meritorious Artist and Director of the Film-making Center of Vietnam Television (VTV), Madam Giang Son – musician, Ms. Thuy Hang – supermodel and three other artists: Hong Dang, Hong Diem and Manh Truong. They evaluated the candidates based on their faces and talents. 

After all the sessions, the First Prize went to Ms. Bui Phuong Nga from the National Economics University.

The Jury of the Contest

The contest was launched in March 2017 and appreciated by a large number of students, University leaders, and institute staff as well as media agencies. The program helped establish a typical example of Students doing five good things initiated by the Central Committee of Vietnam Union of Students, consolidate civilized behavior and lifestyles among students at universities, colleges and institutes across the country, so that they could have good opportunities to communicate with one another. This program was also a meaningful activity to celebrate the success of the 6th National Congress of the Communist Party Union of Youths.

Ms. Nguyen Thị Oanh – the University of Fire Protection and Fighting – was awarded a prize for the most impressive costume 

Ms. Ban Thi Thu Huong – Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy – was awarded a prize “Most photogenic candidate”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly – Hanoi College of Tourism – was awarded a prize “Most prospective face”  

Ms. Nguyen Tu Uyen – Vietnam Institute of Women Studies – won two awards: Most Favorite Face and Most Characteristic Face 

Ms. Ngo Thi Lan Anh – the National University of Civil Engineering – won an award for talent 

Ms. Bui Phương Nga – the National Economics University – won the First Prize Brightest Face for the Cover Page of Vietnamese Students Magazine
