30th Founding Anniversary of Maritime Building Construction

On Sunday, March 11th 2018, the Faculty of Maritime Building Construction and Petroleum in collaboration with the Institute of Maritime Building Construction at the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) solemnly celebrated the 30th Founding Anniversary of Maritime Building Construction (March 10th 1988 - March 10th 2018).

Participants included: as special guests – Mr. Nguyen Hung Dung as Vice General Director of Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Nguyen Dinh The as General Director of PVC Joint-Stock Petroleum Construction Corporation, Colonel Cao Dinh Hoa as Head of the Department of Petroleum from Military Civil Engineering Command, Colonel Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tri Ta as Director of the Institute of Special Building Engineering, representatives from various organizations: the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Construction, and delegates from partner institutions, companies and sponsors.

To start the anniversary ceremony, Dr. Mai Hong Quan – Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Building Construction and Petroleum took an overview of 30 years of establishment and development of the Faculty. He said that since 1981, the Faculty has been the first and the only one higher education institution in the country to offer specialized programs in off-shore building construction with over 1,400 engineers and nearly 100 MSc/PhD students having graduated. They have been well-qualified experts and competent managers as well as leaders at different levels in various cities and provinces across the country. In addition to the achievements in education and training, the Institute and the Faculty of Maritime Building Construction and Petroleum have always been active in scientific research and conducted numerous research projects at the national level, and participated in many significant projects for oil exploitation, national defence, coastal protection from erosion and other important economic projects, and focused on strengthening cooperation with other international universities and institutes through a number of MoU’s in scientific research, staff and student exchange, working visits and conferences.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa – University Party Secretary and Rector of the NUCE – appreciated and congratulated the Faculty and Institute of Maritime Building Construction and Engineering on the great achievements in all activities over the past 30 years with contributions of lecturers and students from generation to generation. As a result, the Faculty has confirmed its leading position in intensive training in maritime building construction, achieved great outcomes and made significant contributions to the national socio-economic development as well as the protection of the national security and sovereignty of the sea waters and islands. Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa suggested some orientations so that the Faculty and the Institute of Maritime Building Construction and Petroleum would try to achieve the goals along with the University and meet the requirements for new programs and the demand of the society, such as training staff, preparing for new programs and education reform, strengthening research activities and technology development, cooperation with domestic and foreign enterprises to improve the training quality and implement the application of research outcome to reality, broadening international cooperation and joint programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including PhD programs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa believed that the Faculty and the Institute of Maritime Building Construction and Petroleum would continue the tradition of obtaining great achievements and enhancing the capacity to be a top institution in both teaching and research in Vietnam for maritime building construction.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa – the NUCE Rector – presented a certificate of achievement to the Faculty and Institute of Maritime Building Construction

In recognition of the great achievements over the past 30 years and the significant contributions of lecturers and students, the Ministry of Education and Training decided to award a certificate of achievement to the Faculty and Institute of Maritime Building Construction and Petroleum.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hung Dzung – Vice General Director of Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation – presented a certificate of achievement and an Order of Merit for the Development of Petroleum to the former and present institute directors in recognition of their major contributions to the development of the Institute over the past 30 years.

At the ceremony, Prof. Pham Khac Hung – Founder of Maritime Building Constructionrecalled the development from the beginning. He hoped that Maritime Building Construction would continue its success and try to reach a new level of development.
