Faculty of Environmental Engineering

The Faculty of Environmental Engineering is a training division of the National University of Civil Engineering which was founded in 1966 from of Faculty of Civil Engineering of Polytechnic University of Hanoi. Since the early days, the University has established basic training departments of the later Faculty of Environmental Engineering. They were Water Supply – Drainage and Ventilation – Heat Supply. In 1972, Water Supply – Drainage and Ventilation – Heat Supply departments combined with Building Materials department to form the Faculty of Building Materials and Hygienic Engineering. In 1989, as the country demanded renovation, it was necessary to train a large force of engineers, masters and doctors in the environment field, Hygienic Engineering was separated from the Faculty of Building Materials and Hygienic Engineering to establish the Faculty of Environmental Engineering. This is the first Environmental Engineering faculty in the Vietnam university system.

Nowadays, in order to make the Faculty of Environmental Engineering of National University of Civil Engineering continue to develop in line with the Government policy on education and training, as well as fulfilling its mission in the training highly qualified personnel to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and international integration, the strategic development of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering is part of the overall development strategy of National University of Civil Engineering, which was built based on the Government’s education and training policies in renovation period, the trend of developing training majors and development of human resources in Environmental Protection field who have graduate of undergraduate, post-graduate and continuous training programs, the trend of raising education and scientific research quality for international integration as well as capabilities and core strengths of the Faculty.
